Even in San Jose — where you can count on sunshine 300 days a year — life is anything but predictable. But there’s one big exception. Operators of San Jose-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility can predict every year the precise hour when the greatest volume of sewage will surge to the Plant’s digesters: during halftime of the Super Bowl. So in 2018, you can say with some certainty that around 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 4, that plant will be working overtime.
